Barbara Messinger-Rapport, MD, CMD, is Chief Medical Officer of Hospice Care of Hospice of the Western Reserve. She is certified through the American Board of Internal Medicine in General Internal Medicine, Geriatric Medicine, and Hospice and Palliative Medicine. She is also a Certified Medical Director of nursing homes. Her special interests include quality improvement, deprescription, and quality of life in advanced dementia. She is a past president of the Ohio Geriatric Society and of the Ohio Medical Directors Association. She is the former chair of the Education Committee of the American Medical Directors Association. She is a member of the quality subcommittee of AMDA and of the quality committee of the American Association of Hospice and Palliative Medicine.
